Steps to Sign Up
Enrolling as a volunteer for the FRC program is a simple process. We use the national Volunteer Information Management System (or VIMS for short). VIMS is a tool developed by FIRST for volunteers across all FIRST programs. All volunteers must register in VIMS.
Note: As apart of the VIMS application process, all adult volunteers will need to fill out information required for an automated background check. For more information or to inquire about the process, please click here.
If you are new to FIRST, please create a new account on the VIMS system and complete all required information. Once you have activated your account, please apply for one of the events in our area. When applying for an event, please use the following information to help you navigate the system:
- Program: Select FIRST Robotics Competition
- For Events: Look for the Central Valley Regional.
The screening process will take place after the first event registration. Please complete the screening process as soon as possible. The Volunteer Coordinator will not be able to assign you as a volunteer until the screening process is complete. The process typically takes 36 hours from when all information is submitted.
