About Us

Welcome to web home of Central Valley Robotics.

Central Valley Robotics is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing a love of science and technology to students in California’s San Joaquin Valley.  We support the FIRST progression of programs and it is our mission to bring “The Sport of the Mind” to every aspect of the Central Valley community.

Central Valley Robotics is a division of the Clovis Unified school district operated out of the Buchanan Area Superintendent’s office. We are the Affiliate Partner with FIRST responsible for overseeing and implementing the FIRST LEGO League Explore and the FIRST LEGO League Challenge programs in  Mono, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Inyo, and Kern counties. CVR provides informational and website assistance to the Central Valley Regional, the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Regional run in Madera, California.  The official website for the regional is located here at cvrobotics.org.

Central Valley Robotics was founded in 2002 by Dr. Devin Blizzard.  Dr. Blizzard had already experienced great success with the FIRST robotics programs in California’s Silicon Valley, and brought the program to Central California.   He started a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team at Copper Hills Elementary.   20 years later, CVR now oversees more than 120 FLL teams with hundreds of volunteers donating their time to support our mission.

It is our hope that with the help of the bright young minds and professionals in the Central Valley, robotics can be a part of everything that we do in our rich community.  As our world advances, technology and robotics become a more important part to agriculture and education, and we hope to excite children to make a difference in our community.
