Cultivating the Future of Engineering in the Heartland of California!

CVRobotics offers different programs for different student age groups. Today there are two programs that are well represented and established:

The FIRST LEGO League or FLL is a partnership between FIRST and the LEGO Group. FLL extends the FIRST concept of inspiring and celebrating science and technology to students between the ages of 9 through 14, using real-world context and hands-on experience. With the help of LEGO Mindstorms Robotic Invention System technology, young teams build a robot that will compete in the FLL State Tournament in Clovis, CA. Using LEGO bricks and other elements such as sensors, motors and gears, teams gain hands on experience in engineering and computer programming priniciples as they construct and program their unique robot inventions!

Today, CVRobotics has over 85 teams from all over the valley participating and competing in the Central California FLL State Tournament.

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an exciting multinational event that teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. Geared toward the high school aged student, FRC is a life-changing, career-molding experience. Colleges, universities, corporations, and individuals provide scholarships to FRC participants, while the competition itself shows students that the technological fields hold many opportunities and that the basic concepts of science, math, and engineering can be exciting and interesting. FRC is the next step once the student is too old for FLL.

CVRobotics is home to a few FRC teams that have been formed within valley high schools.

The FIRST VEX Competition (FVC) is a mid-level robotics competition for high-school and advanced middle-school students. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST competition, but with a more accessible and affordable robotics kit. The ultimate goal of FVC is to reach more young people with a lower-cost opportunity to discover the excitement and reward of science, technology and engineering.

Today CVRobotics does not have an organized FVC program, but we are looking for interested teams to start up a program very soon.
